The annual art gifting Game, starting on July 1st!

my fav piece I've done for Art Fight this year. Idk what came over me

Why?

I first participated in Art Fight 2024, after I learned about it from some random Youtube vids (I don't remember which one anymore, sorry!) The game constructed through this event had me hooked: I was fascinated by the concept of attacking via drawing someone else's OC and potentially getting attacked (getting art from your OCs). Not on an individual basis, as a collective group of artists! It be like splatfest but art.

The one month period of this event presents countless ways of how to participate. I personally like to draw one art piece everyday as a challenge (and as limit). But you can also do less if you're more easy-going (or more if you're insane).

There is also no prompt you have to follow, so I have the freedom to choose how I want to challenge myself. For example I used this event to learn to draw on clip studio paint + character interactions + being somewhat experimental too I suppose. For the future I maybe wanna try animation :3

This is also a great way to connect with other artists! Words are not necessarily the strong suit of visual artists and approaching strangers on the net in general is pretty awkward, for me at least. So what better way is there to show appreciation than by attacking them (gifting art)! Art is the language I'm most fluent at, so making drawings feels way more effortless to me to show that I care than to compliment the characters with words (but I'm gonna work on that!).

I also just love this spirit of abundance that is ingrained within this event. Although this event also has a competitive touch with the teams, it's not like we're fighting for a limited resource... like getting first place or whatever. Gifting and receiving, not focusing on getting a balanced deal, but to show your love and gratitude and also being able to receive it.
Still, People come and go. Within this event there will be many people that gift you art and then you may never see them again. I myself might might do the same because we as people are limited, even in our pursuit of abundance.
Normally, I feel sad when people leave me or guilty when I leave people. But here at least there is a mark left. A piece of art they made of your creations. A sign that they thought of you.

And maybe they will stay for a while longer and join in on your journey.
