Kim Kitsuragi (Disco Elysium)

The only man I would do art of on my own volition
(This is supposed to be a joke, but there's currently like only one illustration of men in my gallery, and it's of Kim (and Harry too ig))
Kim is the light in the end of the tunnel, the beacon of hope. He is such a great man. He is kind to the fuck-up that is Harry, but Kim still holds him accountable. He is the reason to Harry's chaos, but he can also be funny? He is the only car nerd I accept.
And uh, he is a cop and works alongside Harry to solve a murder too, I guess. (The game's Disco Elysium for anyone interested)
My favorite Kim moments (you= Harry):
- Kim giving you his handkerchief after you barfed all over the crime scene
- Kim high-fiving you when you got the body down the tree
- "Good job, detective"
- Kim playing a board game with you
- Kim sitting on the swing alongside you, just passing the time
- Kim killing the dance floor
- Kim killing the merc
- Kim is seeing the same thing as you, you haven't gone crazy :')
Every time he drops a tiny bit of his professionalism to get into your hijinks, it is a delight. At the same time, he keeps you grounded to the task in front of you. You don't want to hurt or disappoint him. He's already been very patient with you and he also has his own struggles. You want to be better for Kim. If it weren't for Kim, you probably wouldn't care as much or at all to do good in this god-forsaken world.
It fills me with profound sadness that Kim doesn't exist plane of reality. But honestly, even if he
was real and by some miracle I got to know him, at most Kim would be some random man my father would
be friends or acquaintances with, and he maybe helps out with fixing the family car or something
like that.
I think a part of why I see Kim in such a joyful light nontheless is because I got to know him
through the point of view of Harry. Through Harry and his circumstances, I got to see the beautiful
qualities of Kim shine the brightest. It's a window into a relationship that I wouldn't be able to
experience otherwise, probably because I'm not an alcoholic cop in his 40s who is losing his sanity,
and most importantly, I'm not a man. Like damn, that is one of the most beautiful man-to-man
comraderies I've ever seen. If you're a man, this is the relationship with other men you aspire to
cultivate; no notes.
Additionally, Kim is a part of the Homosexual Underground.
